Originally specialized in the cultivation of fruit trees, especially citrus, widespread in the Grottammare of the time, Marconi was then devoted to ornamental plants, particularly Mediterranean, which find here an ideal microclimate. Since the beginning of the seventies they have practiced the cultivation of potted plants accompanying the traditional sod production, and thus being able to ensure an excellent performance throughout the year. The transition between the seventies and eighties was characterized by industrialization and technological innovation. During this period, Marconi Plants has been developed from a sharecropping farm in a real nursery company, structured and technologically advanced. A new stage in the history of the industry is the great frost of 1985, which has fallen on the plants and on the activity of nursery throughout Italy. From a devastating event the revival resulted. A wind of unprecedented innovation has gone through the Italian nursery, opening it to competition and qualitative research, spreading entrepreneurial thinking and new organizational and technological systems.
